OICD History
The Optimist movement in the Caribbean began with the Optimist Club of Kingston (OCK), established in Jamaica, marking the first Caribbean club and celebrating its 30th anniversary around 2010, later its 40th in 2020, growing into the broader Caribbean District focused on youth development through programs like essay contests, Oratorical contests, and support for children’s homes.
Key figures and the district’s growth, supported by the Optimist International Foundation, have expanded its reach, with prominent leaders like Past International Presidents Theo Golding and Adrian Elcock boosting the region’s influence.
